They did address discrimination but the programs went way beyond it to encouraging subprime lending and the securitization of subprime mortgages.

This decrease in lending discrimination is not connected with the subprime mess at all, timewise and otherwise, except in the mind of Republican spinners.

What Republicans view as 'coercion' is what others view as forcing the lenders to give up their discriminatory practices.

Thats a flat denial of reality. Keep your head in the sand. The connections between between regulations and the creation of the subprime mortgage problem is real and well documented.
