Ford sales plunge

Auto maker says credit squeeze, customer worries led to 35% drop in sales -- much worse than expected.

Tell me jimbo....you too ten.....is this a main street problem or a wall street problem? Is Ford an American firm or a foreign one. What say you? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Jim, > Japan did the same thing in 1990 and lost an entire decade. Better to take the pain now and start over but that prolly won't happen.

Funny how Rogers also mentioned South Korea. I remember those times very well. "IMF" became the name given to the economic depression that followed their financial crisis:

Me: "I know this CD costs 2200 won, but can I just give you 2000 won?"

Street vendor: "No no no, IMF."

The Korean won fell from 800 to 1400 per dollar and never fully recovered after that.

Bottom line: Bailouts happen. Better to be in control of it, despite the unintended consequences, than to just break things and try to remold after that. At least IMO.
