I don't think the guys I knew saw it in such stark terms. The interventionalist and the preventional guys seemed to work in pretty good harmony and mutual respect. Neither seemed threatened by the other. A lot of those interventions I saw saved lives. <The whole Cardiology setup is geared toward doing procedures. The Hospitals would lose a huge source of income.> But shut it down and a lot of people would die. I think that is the salient point that seems to get lost by these blanket accusations.
