I picked up some IDG, a preferred financial stock, on Monday during the sell off for the bounce, but like you I see more economic turmoil to come. We are headed for that recession that the central banks have been able to put off for the last 7 years. It looks like it might be hard and deeper than anything we have seen in 2 decades unless the central bank are able to do something very creative.

I am not sure this is a fair comparison in this post as it refers to absolute values as opposed to P/E, P/S or other normalized metrics.

Some of these companies are structured differently from 1998 or 2000. IBM no longer sells PC and is for the most part in the consulting business with fewer lines of actual products that they manufacturer.

The delta are interesting to look though I don't think they should be used to measure a bottom in stock prices.
