Biden should not try folksy and apparently Gov Palin is a student of history:

Game-time: "Blunders" of the day

By: ALEXANDER BURNS, Oct 3 2008

How hard are the campaigns trying to find a gaffe in their opponents’ performances last night?

This morning McCain spokesman Brian Rogers blasted out an article from the Wilmington (Del.) News-Journal noting that Biden mentioned a restaurant in Wilmington called “Katie’s.” The paper writes: “It hasn’t been Katie’s in, well, years.”

Rogers appended a note reading: “Please see reporting from Delaware saying Joe Biden cited a restaurant that’s been closed for years…”

And Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor sent out a story from the Boston Globe noting Sarah Palin had misidentified the U.S. commander in Afghanistan. The Globe writes: “[S]ome liberal bloggers today are drawing attention to an apparent Sarah Palin flub, where she referred to General David McKiernan, Commander for NATO International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, as ‘General McClellan…General George B. McClellan served as commander of the Union army during the Civil War, from Nov. 1861 - March 1862.”

Missteps, to be sure, but not exactly vote-movers – and hardly the kinds of fumbles many were expecting last night.
