Here's their explanation of the list:

The US 1 list represents a collection of investment ideas selected by a committee of Merrill Lynch professionals, including fundamental equity research analysts, investment strategists and research managers. The list is chosen from a universe of U.S. stocks that Merrill Lynch has rated "Buy." Click here for more details, the current Merrill Lynch US 1 list and to sign-up for the News & Views Newsletter.

The investments or strategies presented do not take into account the investment objectives or financial needs of particular investors. It is important that you consider this information in the context of your personal risk tolerance and investment goals. Neither the information nor any opinion expressed constitutes a specific recommendation or a solicitation by us to buy/sell any securities or commodities.

Hold on, I just found this, whatever it means

Note: On October 2 AGCO Corp (AG) was removed from the US 1 list due to an adjustment based on the overall composition of the list.

In any case, AG was not downgraded - still a 1.
