I watched a 2000 movie called "The Contender", which dealt with a female VP nominee selected to replace a veep during a term. The bad guys in the piece were Republicans, with the Dem nominee being in favor of every single liberal agenda item. imdb.com The "bad guys" decided to derail her nomination and dredged up alleged sexual peccadillos from the past. I lol'ed at the sanctimonious attitude of the liberal POV, since this was obviously in some reaction to the Clinton impeachment. It was just interesting in contrast to the utter feeding frenzy of the libs against Palin, and not just from the Dem party itself. One of the comments made behind closed doors in the movie was to the effect that they were going to attack her by stabbing her in the navel. It would be bloody and the purpose was to utterly destroy her life. Sounded eerily familiar.
