If's funny, sad and true.

The company match seems to be the snake oil part that prevents more people from first paying their home. Because the company matches, it makes sense to invest in the 401k. Never mind that there seems to be 4-6%+ of buried extra costs, fees and hidden transactions.

In the end, you remain a debtor to the bank on your mortgage; never to be free.

At my wife's work place, one of the choices is vanguard snp500. The 401k managing firm charges an extra % to participate in this fund because the fund does not pay them, provide enough kick backs.

The american way. In debt forever. Lured by the sexy call of free money (as in a free company match).

"Trust but verify" was Ronald Reagans saying. "Trust, Don't ask questions and get screwed" is todays version.
