That was the point I was trying to make. Z is going to vote for this guy who has almost no resume, and is not even vaguely familiar with what resume he DOES have.

Ah. You're right. But he was a lawyer, a professor at U of C, and, according to Wikipedia, on the board of several other organizations, including two foundations. He was certainly not picked out of the blue.
