Dems lack of political reasoning is stunning:

A Piranha in Obama's Mainstream

Junior senator from Illinois does not show presidential-quality judgment

Sen. Barack Obama's website still insists that unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers is just a "mainstream" college professor. Ironically, that whopper appears in a section of the site labelled "Fact Check" and as a quote attributed to the Associated Press. Don't be surprised if it is scrubbed from the website soon. I recommend that one for caching just in case...

Millions of mainstream Americans will be at a loss to see how these remarks, delivered by Ayers to the 2006 World Education Forum in Caracas, Venezuela, are in any way consistent with their own views:

"Capitalism promotes racism and militarism – turning people into consumers, not citizens...

Viva Presidente Chavez! Viva La Revolucion Bolivariana! Hasta La Victoria Siempre!"

I'm wondering how many mainstream Americans consider the Marxist dictator Hugo Chavez to be their "comrade" and amigo. You decide. The full speech is posted on Ayers' own website at the link provided above. On another page, he proclaims:

"On the death penalty, I’m an abolitionist; on education and health care, a universalist; on economic growth, a minimalist, while on economic policy, a socialist…"
Economic socialism is mainstream? Who knew?

On yet another page, Ayers suggests:
Every citizen should oppose the presence of the military in our public schools.

Is this opinion mainstream? Not for the hundreds of thousands of parents of JROTC students, obviously, but consider that the overwhelming majority of Americans still admire our military. According to a 2006 Gallup Poll, when asked to name which American institutions inspired the most confidence, 73% of the respondents listed the military, placing it at the very top of the list.

What kind of reading material does the "mainstream" Bill Ayers recommend? According to one of his blog posts, Granny Made Me an Anarchist by "the rarest of revolutionaries" Stuart Christie, is "essential reading" for anyone searching for a moral compass.

But we need not limit ourselves to Bill Ayers' blog for insights into his "mainstream" views. At Allah's hotair.com, we are reminded of Ayers' opinion that the Vietnam War justified the use of violence by he and his fellow Weather Underground terrorists:

The particular crisis we faced with the Vietnam War was a crisis that called on us to escalate, to resist in more intense and, and, uh, uh, in more extreme ways.

Even the New York Times, which in recent times has tried to downplay the radicalism of Ayers and his even more radical wife Bernadine Dohrn, led off a 1991 story about Ayers' lack of regret for the bombings he and his comrades planned and carried out, leads with this chilling quote from the now sedate (or so we are being led to believe by the "mainstream" media) college professor:

"I don't regret setting bombs," Bill Ayers said. "I feel we didn't do enough."

This is what Barack Obama, currently the leading candidate in the contest for the office of President of the United States, considers to be in the mainstream of our great and beloved nation.

Real mainstream Americans should not be afraid of this lack of judgment on Obama's part. They should be terrified.
