Is sea-side property at all affordable (by Houston standards, say?)

Just had a scary thought, though ...

Canada might provide a reasonably sane haven for a few years, but if the craziness gets bad enough down there, we're getting invaded, & being a (former or not) U.S. citizen might not be too well-received by the stormtroopers?
