You are right, but the fed creates money by creatng debt and the consumer can't absorb more debt. It seems to me for that to work they have to get more money into the hands of consumers and I guess it will be more rebates.

Maybe direct aurthorization to print which I don't thinkw fed has now. As I understand it and if anyone knows better please correct me, most European central banks can print money, but the fed can't.
