Its either you or the author. Deneb comes from the exact same die and offers HT3.x out of the box or tray. Besides with the grandfathering, a HT3.1 CPU placed in a HT1.0 socket or with a HT1.0 only BIOS runs just fine at HT1.0 speeds. It just doesn't use the full capabilities of the CPU. Its just like a 2.66GHz Dunnington running in a 100MHZ QDR FSB MB and a single PC2-3200 DIMM. It runs, just not very fast (1GHz) and doesn't use the full potential of the CPU. The nice thing about the Opteron platform, the memory and cores aren't tied to the HT speed, just the standard 200MHz HT clock.
