I agree it wasn't a debate----part of it was the format---I've seen townhall type debates and they are usually done in a traditional format.

Give them a podium with a light, a piece of paper and a pen.

Pose the questions, limit the time for each to speak on each question and response time.

Brokaw conducted a very sloppy debate.
