Skinow, the HQ of AlQ was in Afghanistan and Waziristan so it seems to have been a silly idea to go for Saddam and the deck of cards rather than the real place.

The result has been that Osama won and Bush lost. Osama is still on the loose 7 years after destroying the Twin Towers and 3000 people and a lot more besides.

Bush's silly plan has resulted in oil reaching $140 a barrel and Americans feel decidedly the worse for wear financially. Clinton handed over a booming economy and big surpluses. Bush has overseen a transition to financial carnage, the Twin Towers being destroyed and many soldiers killed or maimed.

An opportunity to remake the UN at a time of USA ascendancy was lost.

Pakistan, an active Islamic Jihad zone, has had nukes for quite some time. To control WMDs of the nuclear variety, focusing on the part of Pakistan where Osama is theoretically hiding would have been a better idea.
