Mike,

Without revealing details, can you give some indication of the types of plays you look for in your income portfolio? I know that income for you does not mean simple dividend or interest income.

Also please, your opinion on TSM?

Thanks,
SC

MB,

Noticed that Templeton Vietnam Fund (with 32.4% HK, 26.6% Thai, 20.6% Sngpr., 5.1% Indonesia, 2% Belgium and 13% cash allocation as of late August) was not on your list. Fund currently trades around 8% discount to NAV but is tendering for half outstanding shares.

Any thoughts? Would you step up to the plate in SE Asia at this time or wait for it to stabilize?

Mike,

Mario Gabelli brought up an intriguing investment situation today on CNBC. He said that many of the gold miners have so many forward sales hedged, that one could buy the company, unwind the contracts, and own the company for virtually nothing. Any thoughts? If you want to get together on this, I can pitch in a grand or two. -g-

He also said that he liked Japan's shift from loose monetary & tight fiscal policy to the opposite. Any thoughts?

Tom

To All, I know what I forgot. My oldest holding, Medtronic. Oh, well, after holding it another 30 years, I may remember it next time. -g- MB
