He did admit it, but if one looks at what actually happened, there is no evidence he used poor judgment. I think he felt it was a black mark on an otherwise impeccable career (even though I've long disagreed with his positions); but I see nothing in his actions that suggests poor judgment.

He went and heard what they had to say. McCain allowed himself to be talked into to listening, and I just don't see that there was any bad judgment in doing so.

Going and listening to Keating certainly doesn't reflect as poor judgment as going and listening to Ahmedinijad.
