The only difference is that ATIC will also carry IBM's bulk as well as its SOI process. Seems more like insurance to me ;-).

Of course it does, you've never been inside the semiconductor business.

IMO, the stupidest thing Intel ever did, (well, IBM before them) was not dominating the foundry business. In this our great land of innovation, especially business structures, who would have thought that a little island full of Chinamen would figure that venture out better than we could?

I guess all our business genius in the early 1980's was directed towards figuring out structured credit products, and Lordy have we not come to dominant that innovation worldwide!
