Imagine, for just a minute, what the firestorm would have been if Obama had dismissively sneered at McCain the "That One" line. The right wing would be throwing up the virtual nooses as we speak. It is amazing how Obama and the left are held to a different standard than those on the right: - Clinton was a horrible philanderer - but McCain was merely testing out a new wife. - Making banks accountable for discrimination caused this crisis, not out of control greed on Wall Street. - Clinton was reckless for going into Bosnia, were few lives were lost, but Bush and McCain are heroes for screwing up Iraq and getting thousands killed. - Obama has a murky past because he served on a couple of charity boards with an old 60's radical, but McCain is honest in spite of his lobbying regulators to lay off his pal/crook Keating. - Obama is an elitist because he owns one car and one house, but McCain is not because he owns 7-12 houses and 13 cars. - Obama has terrible judgement for not leaving his church because of offensive sermons, but McCain actively seeking the support of the Catholic-hater Hagee is acceptable. The list goes on and on. People are finally seeing through the double standard and lies of the right wing, and now they are finally paying the piper. If the numbers hold, the Democrats will hold solid leads in Congress - possibly even the 60 magic number in the Senate - and the Presidency. The only problem will be the long years - possibly decades - it will take to undo all the damage caused by the Republicans. The question will be: can Obama fix enough of these disasters in 4 years? If not, the it will be Palin - not Putin - rearing her head over our nation from the north...
