I bet they were morels. Morels love to grow in old burnouts.

And morels are very, very delicious. Nutty/buttery.........yummy. If I had a hybrid car I'd drive to Kansas and bring a bunch home that way. But I'm going to have to freeze them or dry them and pay to have them shipped on the plane.

The people I will be visiting say they get 5 gallon buckets full.

I was sitting at our little bar at the resort when Peggy walked in the door with a brown bag full of mushrooms. She brought them over and said, "aren't these just beautiful?"

I agreed they looked nice but she asked me if I knew anything about mushrooms and I said I don't which is why I don't pick any. She then asked if anyone in there knew anything and an old guy sitting at the end said he was a mushroom picker.

She brought them down for him to look at and said, "aren't they beautiful?"

He said, "well yes I guess they look pretty nice."

She said, "can I eat them?"

He paused for about a 3 count and said, "yes I suppose you could eat them." About another 3 count and he said, "but then you'll die."

I sprayed beer about half way across the bar:)

Hi Ken....Has it started to get cold yet in Denver? I know a few weeks ago, it looked pretty chilly, but haven't seen anything lately. We are chilly here today...Haven't had a frost as yet, but it's getting to feel like we might soon.
