Gee, I can play....Maybe if the NZ government weren't distracted with paying for socialist programs, or holding another anti-nuc rally, they could afford the aircraft needed for their SAS troops to get Osama?

Or better still, maybe if the NZ people weren't distracted with jet-skiing, they could vote for politicians who support building the ships needed to protect the Pacific, so the U.S. could use those forces in support of our operations in Afghanistan?

This is really astonishing. What you're in effect saying is the NZ military is completely ineffective without U.S. support, or U.S. troops.

So, why send them? Why not just leave them home to lead the next anti-nuc rally in Auckland?

This deserves another response and possibly a third. I think I can speak for a few million Americans when I say I am sick and tired of seeing foreigners criticize the U.S. military.

All the American military does is protect the peace all over the globe. You would think a tiny bit of thanks would be in order, but all we hear is complaining, harping about Gitmo and Abu Ghraib etc.

If you want to get Osama and don't have the resources to do it on your own, start growing an economy and supporting a military to make it happen. This reminds me of the Georgian situation, every nation in Europe whining about Russia, unwilling to put one of their troops in harms way. Hoping, praying and complaining the U.S. isn't doing enough.

Get off your duffs and do it yourself democracies of the world! It took one bomb to scare the wits out of Spain, a few more to scare the Italians. The Germans barely showed up in Afghanistan, ditto with the French and Japanese. This isn’t America’s war to fight alone. Radical Islamists are a threat to everyone who values freedom. Protecting freedom and the right of self-determination is the responsibility of every democratic nation.

And it's time they got off the couch and started playing the game from inside the stadium, instead of from the safety of America's buzum, surrounded by its military professionals.
