I agree with you regarding valuations. I formulated a method I call "Crash Value" and "Bubble Value" back in Sept. 2001 that is very similar to what you are suggesting.

I used the same system to identify the highs on the Shanghai index and the crash value lows (1400) on the SSEC for this year, with 1800 my targeted low that was hit.

Crash value puts a virtual floor under price, just like bubble value puts a virtual ceiling.
