In his Georgetown speech, he entertained no talk of regulation, describing the financial turmoil as the failure of Wall Street to behave honorably.

β€œIn a market system based on trust, reputation has a significant economic value,” Mr. Greenspan told the audience. β€œI am therefore distressed at how far we have let concerns for reputation slip in recent years.”


That's what a lot of the libertarian ideologues just don't get. If 70% of players act honorably, the other 30% can still pull them all down.

You could 'unregulate' all street speed limits and a majority of people would be sensible, me included. But that doesn't stop some idiot from slamming into me at 80 MPH.
