Democrats make careers out of ignoring unintended consequences of their feel good actions Here's one example: Feel Good Action: Protect spotted owls Unintended Consequence: a profitable government agency went into the red big time. Spotted owls are GOOD, OK? Nobody disputes that. It's the crazy measures foisted off on forest management that caused the unintended consequences.

the real issue is what happened in the last 5 years or so in the housing market. If there were many "affirmitive action" loans issues- probably some- or was it predatory lending encouraged by no regulation and silly sh-t such as credit default swaps not covered by any reserves coming into the fore; large numbers $62 trillion, and totally out of control. It seems to me that the real imbalances started in the last few years and that is what is causing the panic.
