That's not modern liberalism. Conservatives and libertarians are much closer to classical liberalism than modern liberals.

Steve, funny you should mention classical liberalism, because modern-day liberals are the new "old-guard" conservatives. They have their schools of thought deeply ingrained in institutions such as schools, universities, newspapers, unions, and civil rights organizations. They manipulate young minds into thinking they can change the world via government collectivism. They keep control over urban communities where minorities are the "majority," using cultural tribalism to keep their base of power. They have taken the muckraking roots of journalism and institutionalized it to the point where if you don't think like they do, you won't get very far in traditional media. They have convinced blue collar workers everywhere that they are the only way to gain benefits from greedy corporate execs, thus completely twisting the American work ethic into a zealous demand for entitlements. In short, they have transformed liberalism into a conformity game. Divide-n-conquer is the rule of thumb. Anything to keep the elitists in charge. Watch them annoint the "Chosen One," then manipulate him into cementing their power. Tenchusatsu
