It is all just fun and games unless or until a significant part the world figures that they can save themselves by cutting ties with the dollar. If/when it happens the main event starts, our currency implodes, and we hyper inflate.

Cash is cool as long it is well diversified (gold, yen, CA$, swiss francs, and maybe some US$), but sitting on dollars and/or owning dollar denominated debt alone is like sitting on a bomb. Maybe it goes off, maybe it doesn't, only time will tell. IMHO

The band played on is exactly right -- if you are in dollars right now instead of stock you are simply sitting in a more comfortable chair on the upper deck of the ship where you can ask the band to amuse you with one more tune as the ship goes down.
