What the Constitution of the United States of America requires. So, you might say that it is "our Founders 'reasoning'". Are you proposing to amend the US Constitution? (Because --- above and beyond what minimum requirements for the office are set in our Constitution --- the voters of the United States ALREADY are totally free to consider anything that they want to about any candidate for the office!) Which is, I think, exactly the way our founders intended it to be. No 'gatekeepers', no secret group of bureaucrats passing 'judgment' upon who is 'allowed' to run and who is not... rather, just the American people and their own good judgment, with no government or secret society 'filters'.
