Bill Gross's firm PIMCO is far poorer after paying off their losing bets on Lehman Bros defualts today.

I can well understand why he thinks the "Federal Reserve must now act as a clearing house, guaranteeing that institutional transactions clear."

If they don't, far fewer parties will risk transactions with his possibly insolvent firm PIMCO.
