Cyberphones are more like drinking water than corn flakes, which are an optional and questionably nutritious food. <Preposterous. Paul says handsets are consumer staples, like corn flakes. > Nobody needs to eat corn flakes, but everyone needs to drink water [even if it is disguised as coffee or tea].

But even more than water which is only an occasional necessity [use it a few times a day], a cyberphone is like a thumb to suck = needs to be there constantly. A cyberphone is like a cigarette to an addict - need them close at hand and need a fix regularly. They are like a na-na blanky comforter to snuggle closely.

People would no more be without their cyberphone than they'd be without their eyes, ears and speech. They'd give up their left arm rather than their cyberphone.
