That -describes- the volatility premium, but doesn't -explain- it.

Is it really better or even as good to own a lower-performing stock that grows at a steadier rate than a higher-performing stock that grows less predictably? (As I understand you, that's what you're claiming.)

I know I'd pick the unpredictable higher performer, unless it was an investment that I might be coerced to sell at a moment's notice or something. But then, I'm a long-term investor.
