Mme Sybarite:

So BOTH views are necessary, for balance, and to meet the needs of diverse situations.

What an interesting thought - I have always assumed my view was right. How does that apply to "no atheist in a foxhole" or more relevant to today's problem where now "everyone is a socialist"?

From the latest research it's pretty clear that conservative and liberal views stem from innate, and probably inborn, wiring- and nature, being the cautious creature she is, knows that one needs diversity to maintain population health. So BOTH views are necessary, for balance, and to meet the needs of diverse situations.

yes yes YES! and how well articulated. from my heart i have known this to be true for quite some time but did not develop it in conscious form until this last week. it hit me like a ton of bricks! it was 'dogma' that had me up in arrears and that it included my own perceptions of "how it should be!"

I know you'd like liberals to be "right", so would I, but we're just one part of a collective whole, and most of the parts have value, even the parts which are not in line with our thinking.

exactly. but how does one separate self and objectivity? i declare it could be impossible, but then that might just be my dogma talking.

<<< considering the bloody history all over the world of the last 20 years, your "people killing people" being on the way out strikes me as an utterly ridiculous statement. That's dreams over substance.>>>

Progress is does not occur in a straight line. People today generally do not go around killing other people. But there are people that enable and povide arguments (mostly people on the right) for governments and their military to kill people "for good reasons". That will soon end. I don't see France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Denmark, Holland, and any other North European country (ex Russia) going to war with another North European country any time soon.

<<<From the latest research it's pretty clear that conservative and liberal views stem from innate, and probably inborn, >>>

That is a far fetched assertion. That can't possibly be proven. There are just too many definitions that you would have to pin down and even then you would have to make all sorts of assumptions.

There is nothing scientific in that research. Its baloney.

Look at the progress that have been made in the last 200 years or so. Slavery has become illegal. Women have made progress in gaining equality. These aare all progressive (liberal) initiatives. Look at the trend. Look at the direction civilization is headed.

WE are headed in the right direction. The only problem is that there are still a lot of people trying to hold up progress and millions and perhaps billions of peole will suffer. Justice delayed.
