I think the derivatives were made obscure for a reason. That way if anybody in Congress took it into their head to regulate, all they had to do was send in one of their bright boys to go over the specifics. When his presentation was done, and the Congressman's eyes stopped rolling around, he was finish up with "how can you regulate something like this?". The congresscritters would shudder and hit the bar to try to forget out it...

But wouldn't "the bright boys" be a little more cooperative......meaning more lucid......these days given that a global meltdown is on their heads? You would think they would be helping Congress find a way out of this mess so they can cut down on their prison time.
