The essential difference between Constitutional rights and modern socialist rights is that Constitutional rights - like the right to liberty, bear arms, or free speech don't cost other people anything. Modern socialist rights, like health care, shelter, food, and whatnot, cost somebody to provide, so they involve ordering people to make and distribute goods at a government-set rate.

I had to re-post that. It is profound and simplifies the differences by casting them in the light of the Constitution. If anyone on the left remembers that piece of paper.

I think that one important right that is long overdue is.... electricity. Think about it - we are a wealthy civilized nation. Why is it that a person - only because they can't hold a job - should sit in the dark, with no television on? I think every American should be entitled to a reasonable number of free kilowatt. If we already decide to go socialist, let's not stop halfway.

I am curious where you went to school. You have a command of the language that is just awesome. I wish I were able to write like you.

Just a humble fan.

Awesome and articulate observation, Nadine!
