Maybe the Jews figured out pork was not the healthiest of meats and so they wrote it into the Old Testament I believe it was part of the law as given by God and recorded in what we know as the book of Deuteronomy. Whether God gave to law due to health issues or due to spiritual issues, I cannot say. I don't remember God asking me if He could do something. SO, I am using my brains, also given by God, to deduce that He loves me enough that He gave me free will. I can walk in the light as He is in the light or I can be an elitist that thinks I am way smarter than God and go my own way. One leads to life...the other leads to death, critical thinking or not.
