"So that means it's dogma?" Yep. There is no proof. In fact, the available evidence points in other directions. Yet, it is accepted as rock solid. As you note, how many were speculators? I mean, chances are good they lost out before. Hence the subprime. And their cherished vehicle would be a zero down, interest only loan. In addition, by this point, they'd know the value of dumping out as soon as things started to go sour...
