Funny. I had that bit you added included in the segue originally but removed it to shorten the post thinking it unnecessary.

I included it origionally because it had reinforced my impression that you didn't understand. "It just sticks in another name" clearly, to me, misses the point, which differentiates between criticism and hate. If you lump them together as "hate," you really did miss something. As for "the heart of McCains campaign," what finished McCain for me was the ugliness. Criticism, OTOH, is de rigeur.

Bold this post. John (and Kristol and apparently NOT you) disagree.

I haven't read the Kristol piece so I have no opinion on that, but I do find the difference between Ayers and Wright salient, symbolic of McCain losing his dignity, at a minimum.
