Florida Congressman Who Replaced Mark Foley Faces His Own Sex Scandal

Julie Farby - AHN Reporter
West Palm Beach, FL (AHN)-Two years after his disgraced GOP predecessor Mark Foley was forced to step down as Florida congressman, Democratic Representative Tim Mahoney is facing a sex scandal of his own.

It is being reported that Mahoney, who campaigned against Foley on a platform of family values, agreed to a $121,000 payment to a former mistress who worked on his staff and was threatening to sue him.

According to report, the affair between Mahoney and Allen began in 2006 when Mahoney was campaigning for Congress against Foley, promising "a world that is safer, more moral."

Mahoney, whose campaign ads at the time featured a picture of him with his wife, Terry, also allegedly promised Patricia Allen, a $50,000 a year job for two years at the agency that handles his campaign advertising.

The woman, Patricia Allen, allegedly sought to break off the affair when she learned Mahoney was also involved in other extra-marital relationships at the same time.

Sources close to Allen claim that Congressman Mahoney warned Allen that ending their relationship could jeopardize her job. A January 20, 2008 telephone call that was recorded and provided to ABC seems to corroborate this claim.

"You work at my pleasure," Mahoney is heard telling Allen. "If you do the job that I think you should do, you get to keep your job. Whenever I don't feel like you're doing your job, then you lose your job."

"And guess what? The only person that matters is guess who? Me. You understand that. That is how life really is. That is how it works," Mahoney says on the call.

They've wisely kept their plans to restructure the US government with a socialist system

One of the things that has me worried about our liberties is the huge amount of money that's being used by the left from the new rich like the Sandlers and Soros. What is it with people that use the capitalist system to make their fortunes and then turn around and use that money to sabotage the system for the rest of us? Perhaps it's some sort of guilt trip like the Catholics are alleged to have...<g>
