You're a great guy Tom. I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it. The three of us are spread out quite a bit though with you on the east coast, Moose on the west coast, and me in Texas.

Someday I hope to get my books better organized than they are. Right now they're spread out too in bookcases all over the house. :)

Are we related?

I have about 3,000 books in storage that I haven't set eyes on in about 5 years. I'm gonna get those here sometime in the next couple of months, I have no idea where I'll put them. :)

Here's my story:

My books went with me to Alaska
I packed them in boxes
The barge man said sure
That will be a dollar a pound
Grumbling a bit
I paid

Ten years in a damp climate
Felt more like twenty
But the books liked it,
Sniffing salt air from their shelves
Where I kept them dry
But not too dry

When it came to pass that it was time
I packed my books in boxes
I'll sort them out later
I told myself
The barge man said sure
That will be a dollar a pound
Grumbling a bit
I paid

I put all those boxes
In the cool below ground
The books liked it,
Sniffing radon from the foundation
Where I kept them dry
But not too dry

They waited patiently on my priorities
Until bookshelves at Costco
Made in China
I didn't like that
But they were affordable
I bought three thinking
I would cull my books
And take one back
Maybe

Two full boxes
Duplicate titles
Somebody will want them
One each is enough,
Maybe I'll keep first editions
Four identical Stephen Vincent Benet

Bookshelves at Costco
Made in China
I don't like that
I need two more
If there are any left

Tomorrow the sign said
A yard sale
Sometimes they sell books
I could use another Stephen Vincent Benet

PS, Josh promised to take one of my four Stephen Vincent Benets.
