What Obama said was he would cut the taxes for 95% of working families. Which, of course, McCain has distorted to 95% of Americans. Which could be considered the same unless you want to split hairs. This you should recognize as a straw man argument. You have repeated this version. online.wsj.com While the WSJ gets the Obama statement right, they then continue to make a false equality argument. They try to equate income tax to taxes. Everyone who works makes an income. Given that there are also SSI taxes in addition to income taxes, it is not impossible to promise to cut the taxes on working families even if they don't pay income tax.
