Sounds like the rat was taking the heat for some gross stupeeedity.

I had an experience somewhat like that in Alaska, in my garage where I was working with one of those big halogen lights that you get at Costco, the ones on a shoulder high stand.

My dog got started when she got tangled in the cord, and pulled it over. A fire started immediately, ignited from the hot elements that burst open.

I was able to put it out, with no loss except the lamp.

I don't like those lamps anymore. They are too hot.
