It's really a simple thing.

DESPITE the TRILLIONS of Fed-engineered liquidity injected into the system... it's still out-weighed by the larger amounts of bank lending that has been withdrawn.

(I was reading just a few days ago that much international trade was on the verge of crawling to a halt. Perfectly financially respectable triple A rated big company shippers were seeing their goods languish on docks because banks would not extend short-term credit to pay for the shipping, would not even honor solid letters of credit from other banks to extend the required credit.)

Hopefully this will now turn around... but the world still needs to deleverage it's banks, and that will take time.
