"Maybe it's a California thing." Not so sure. I remember when Tom Coburn was raging about rampaging lesbianism in Oklahoma middle school bathrooms. I was surprised. Didn't know Oklahoma was so progressive... Not really sure how teaching that goes along with teaching creationism. I guess the curriculum is a lot more diverse than it is on this side of the Red River.
