Larger than China? Nope. In fact, USA has a relatively small Gini Coefficient (UN) compared to some countries --

US - 40.8
Turkey - 43.6
Venezuela - 48.2
Argentina - 51.3
Brazil - 57.0
China - 46.9
Russia - 39.9
Thailand - 42.0
Iran - 43.0
Israel - 39.2

Where were our peers Brazil, Turkey, Thailand, even Israel? The fact that's the group you needed to use for comparison should tell you something.
