I am not sure we will ever have principled opposition any more. I have a theory that is based on the relatively new pervasiveness of polling. Rather than have pols who stand for something and present their views to the electorate for acceptance, we now have pols who take pols and then tell the people what they want to hear. They are the ones who are winning and they are not principled.

If I didn't think it would be unconstitutional, I would outlaw polling.

As far as McCain, you can at least say he was willing to go down rather than change on the war, which is evidence that he has some principles.

I think all of the criticism of the ineptitude of his campaign is over done. Although I would have recommended other tactics, I think, considering the millstone of the Republicans, the incredible bias of the press in favor of Obama and the collapse of the economy, it is a wonder that he has a chance at all. I am stunned that he appears to be about 6 points down in the face of all of this.
