>> His accountant screwed up?

Well, the way it works is this. You hire a CPA do your tax return. He screws it up.

It doesn't change, one iota, the fact that YOU, NOT HIM, are responsible to the Treasury Department. That you acted on the advice of your accountant doesn't get you a damned thing when there is tax evasion involved.

Now, maybe the accountant has a problem with the IRS. And maybe you have a problem with the accountant. But that doesn't affect, in any way, the fact that YOU have a problem with the IRS.

And in Rangel's case it is amazingly bad, because he is, or should be, an absolute expert on the subject. Few accountants would have knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code approaching that of a W&M Committee chairman, if said chairman is the slightest bit competent at his job.

Liberals cheat. It is a way of life. Cheat on taxes? Hell yes. During the time I spent doing tax work, I would have people come in raising hell about Reagan and his tax cuts, then pressing me to ignore the law on their tax returns. Year after year. It is a liberal trait. I practiced with a liberal partner for a while, and struggled to keep him from caving to pressure to manipulate numbers (which exposed ME to liability as well as him). He just couldn't say, "No, that's not the way tax law works". With a little pressure, he bends. It is part of liberalism that there are no moral boundaries.

Cheat on elections? We see in action today. They're trying to steal the freaking election and it is still weeks off. They think nothing of it.
