Work is better. Compulsory work in which food is the reward for good quality production. China is ahead of the rest of the world in that they do body part recycling of criminals. Unfortunately, their definition of "criminal" is ideologically perverted. They think "Said something which wasn't admiring of us" is a criminal offence. Envy training should be part of everyone's childhood. That means not being aspirational for material possessions to gain status. Now that the Camry is getting a new door etc, has a new battery and isn't going to the scrap yard, I suppose it's nearly time to get the cam belt replaced. Test driving a couple of Hondas today was nice. But I could spend $7000 on panel and painting, new windscreen [to get back to nice smooth glass instead of micro chips], new tyres, new spark plugs, refill the air conditioner, and all sorts, and the Camry would be pimped nicely. Another $30,000 to achieve not much is questionable. Though individual air conditioning and the other mod cons would be very nice. The big one I'd like to have is crash avoidance, in which the car watches out for obstacles and puts the brakes on if I'm gawping out the window, or asleep, but that's not a feature that's on sale yet [here]. Also, there should be transponders in cars and GPS management systems so vehicles know where each other are and can time intersections so they go fast across without impact and with 3 metres clearance or so. "Platoons" of cars have been tested and that's the way to go. It is odd to me [I grew up poor, compared with many in NZ though that is wealthy compared with India, China etc in the 1950s and 60s] that people have the destructive envy thing going. It must make their lives unsatisfying, I liked it when Larry Ellison brought MV "Katana" to Auckland. I'd go and admire it. It was beautiful. More like a work of art than a boat with a function. Some people think that well off people get it by being crooks and don't believe money can be simply the reward for doing things really well for lots of people. Some do get the money by unethical criminal processes, and they deserve a day in the stocks and a good coining. Mqurice
