I'm reluctantly okay with it mainly because so many knowledgeable folks were saying the system might melt down w/o it. Though I want them to buy mortgages on the cheap, hold and make a profit which s/b directed at government debt reduction. A lot of economists are say the original, $700 Billion bailout won't do any good, and that the second cheaper version of buying preferred stock in the banks is cheaper and more effective. Hell, I admit I don't have a clue. There is an interesting 'peek inside' the Paulson meeting with the bank CEOs in today's NYT.
