Think energy!

I can't think of a time in my life where investment in creating a new way to conserve, recover/re-use and create renewable sources would have been a bad idea.

The demand is there.

The need is never going away.

The solutions found will be technology based and eventually adopted on a global level. The ancillary industries created wont be dissimilar from other advancements (Automobiles, telephone, computers etc. etc.). Some say it can't be done or it will take too long. 23 years ago people laughed at the idea of a computer in every home. 18 years ago we used machines with 8088 and 286 processors & monochrome monitors. Today it's hard to imagine living without one.

It may take the same amount of time or longer to figure out the answers but look how quickly the last 20 years of the technology era has gone. Since fire, energy has been the Holy Grail of mankind's existence. The only thing thats changed is how we collect and manipulate it to serve our needs. The void is there and we (the United States) need to fill it before someone else does.

My grandfather (born in 1898) went from the horse to the moon so I have faith we can pull this off if we want it bad enough.
