Wick Allison is the publisher of the National Review. I got a bit curious and checked him out on Wikipedia.

>>A Conservative for Obama<<

Rambi -

Wow. Another amazing editorial from a real conservative. There's an enormous divide between what Allison and Buckley are saying, and what we hear from Fox, and right here on SI from people who call themselves conservatives.

It really is clear that the Bush Administration, and Karl Rove, have damaged the Republican party. But even worse, they've seriously damaged political discourse in this country. I know that liberals are not blameless on that score, but just look at the hysteria being whipped up about a few dozen bad voter registrations, none of which have resulted in fraudulent votes.

I watched a video of McCain supporters following a rally at which Palin had spoken. A few of them said, essentially, that all they needed to know about Barack Obama was his name. That was enough to convince them he was a bad guy. One woman said that she had only heard of ACORN that day, but she knew that they were the ones responsible for ruining our economy by giving mortgage loans to people who couldn't afford to pay them. Sheesh. Another woman said her preacher had told her Obama might be the AntiChrist.
