CJ, racism is a very serious charge, and I really don't like the race card being played so haphazardly, ESPECIALLY by people who have ulterior motives.

ACORN's efforts to register voters in poor areas, especially those with heavy minority populations, are fine with me. In fact, I think such efforts are worthy of support from up-n-coming politicians like Barack Obama.

But I have seen sufficient evidence to suggest that ACORN focuses more on sheer numbers than on the legitimacy of the registrations they get. It would not surprise me to see widespread voter fraud associated with the lapses in registration. That really hurts the credibility of ACORN's community efforts and throws the door wide open to allegations of fraud.

So like you said, ACORN doesn't benefit from fraudulent registrations, but I think ACORN also doesn't benefit from playing the race card. In the end, they'll just end up hurting race relations because they chose defensiveness over responsibility.
